Illegal Arm Task force sacks Edo Director

The National Task Force to Combat Illegal
Importation of Goods, Small Arms,
Ammunition and Light Weapons has sacked
its
Edo State Director, Mr. Reuben
Agbontaen, over alleged gross misconduct
and conspiracy.

The task force also placed its Kwara State
Director, Mr. Abdulrahman Danbaba, on
indefinite suspension.
The Director-General of the NATFORCE, Dr.
Emmanuel Okereke, stated this at a briefing
on Thursday in Abuja.

He also announced the stoppage of the sale
of its recruitment forms nationwide.
Okereke explained that the sacking of
Agbontaen followed his refusal to appear
before a disciplinary panel, set up to
investigate some allegations levelled
against him.

He said, "Based on the report submitted to
the disciplinary panel by the fact-finding
team that went to some states, especially
Edo State to investigate the allegations of
gross misconduct, economic sabotage and
conspiracy against him, the Edo State
Director was suspended and further
mandated to report to the National
Headquarters for further actions.

"But unfortunately, Mr. Reuben Agbontaen
refused to report to the headquarters to
face the panel. Therefore, for going
contrary to the code of conduct, guiding
the principles and operations of NATFORCE,
Mr. Reuben Agbontaen of the Edo State
command, is hereby relieved of his duties."

The task force, Okereke added, had set up
the fact-finding team to investigate the
activities of the suspended Kwara State
Director for onward submission to the
disciplinary committee for appropriate
actions.
