The
men of the Ogun State Police Command has arrested five suspected
robbers allegedly terrorising residents of the Sagamu and Odogbolu areas
of the state.
It was gathered that police detectives
attached to the Sagamu division,while responding to a distress call from
the Atoyo area of the town, caught four of the robbers in the act on
Tuesday.
The names of suspects arrested at the
scene were given as Abdul Sulaiman, Awonusi Tola,Aliu Sulaiman, and Dada
Fred, while guns and a motorcycle were recovered from them.
PUNCH Metro further learnt that
detectives attached to the Odogbolu division, with the help of men of
the state vigilante services, arrested another suspected armed robber,
Yekini Adesanya,
The
state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said Yekini and
other members of his gang were robbing a landlord at Ayegbe, when
policemen swooped on them, having received a distress call.
He added that Adesanya sustained bullet wounds.
“The suspected armed robbers had shot
and wounded a resident of Ayegbe before the arrival of the police and
vigilante men. The injured man has been taken to a hospital in the area.
“The Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid
Ali, has directed that the suspects be transferred to Department of
Criminal Investigation and Intelligence.”
