An Abuja based group, the Media Network
for Transformation, has called on President
Goodluck Jonathan to resist alleged moves
by a political clique to stampede him out of
the 2015 contest.
The group also asked the President; the
national leadership of the Peoples
Democratic Party; and the President's
supporters to discontinue the ongoing
negotiation with the arrowheads of the
"New PDP," saying they had "self serving
and ill disguised ambitions."
The coordinator of the group, Mr. Goodluck
Ebelo, alleged in an electronic mail on
Tuesday that a group of politicians who
walked out of the Special National
Convention of the Peoples Democratic
Party in Abuja on Saturday were
conspiring to blackmail the President from
running for a second term in office.
Ebelo urged the Presidents and his
loyalists
in the PDP to resist what he described as a
treacherous act masterminded by those
with presidential ambition.
