The group which was formed about 1988/90 was called IKA GROUP OF LEADERS (ONU-IKA) and in year 2005 or thereabout the name was changed to ONU-IKA NIGERIA, the mouthpiece of IKA people, in Nigeria and the Diaspora. ONU-IKA was formed to provide a platform for IKA sons and daughters from both IKA South and IKA North-East Local Government Areas of Delta State, who satisfied the criteria for membership to meet monthly and discuss issues relating to the Socio-Political, Economic and Cultural   well   being   of   IKA   people,   and   development,   peace   and prosperity of IKA Nation.

Also, to protect, defend, project and advance the interest of Ika sons and daughters in various endeavours and empower the less privileged ones to fend for themselves.

The group remains a rallying point for all Ika people and as the voice of the Ika Nation, its intervention on matters of dispute within the kingdoms and even between individuals have always been well appreciated.

Membership of the Association then known as IKA Group, which metamorphosed into ONU IKA, comprised of Chief S. E. A. Omordia, President, Mr. Joe Odiase, Mr. F. M. O. Osifo, Hon P. U. Ogbewi, Chief J. C. I. Enuezie, Nick Iduwe, NID Akumabor, B. O. Tatabuzogwu, Chief P. O. E. Okanigbe, Chief J. B. O. Idunorba, Chief E. U. N. Ofulue, Dr. J. Chiazor, Chief A. O. Emefiene, Chief G. O. Egbule and A. O. Dibie. Later around 1993/94, the following joined the group as members, Mr. S.P.O. Fortune Ebie, Prince Nduka Obaigbena and others.

The Association initially, held its meetings at the residence of Chief J.B.O. Idunorba, but moved to the residence of Chief S.E.A. Omordia when he was elected the President of the group. Later Chief S.E.A. Omordia relocated to Delta State, and the group accepted the offer of Mr. F. M.O. Osifo to host the meeting, which he did as from 1993/94 until 1999 when he travelled out of the country for a prolonged period. Mr. S.P.O. Fortune Ebie, upon request of the group, so kindly agreed to not only host the meetings but head the group.

Eventually, an election of Officers based on the Constitution, Byelaws and Standing Orders 2003 was held and Mr. SPO Fortune Ebie emerged as the Head of the Collective Leadership, with Mr. F.M.O. Osifo as Deputy Head of the Collective Leadership, Mr. A. O. Dibie Secretary Mr. NID Akumabor Financial Secretary/Treasurer and other key positions were filled.

In 1994 when the then Military Government of Late General Sanni Abacha set up a National Constitution Review Commission that called for memoranda from interested groups, the IKA Group Lagos as it was then known met and articulated its position on various issues relating to the Federal Structure/Power Equation, Creation of Anioma State, Local Government, Revenue allocation, Rotational Presidency, Armed Forces and Police, Political parties etc.

The points made then, are still germane to the realities of our country's political and economic health. Please see a copy of IKA Group presentation, placed in Guardian Newspaper of Monday May 16, 1994 as an Advertorial. Since then the group has grown from strength to strength and has not only been recognized as the mouthpiece of IKA people but formidable force within Anioma and Delta State.
