New Roads Will reduce flooding in Ikorodu-CCECC

The contractors handling the expansion of
the Mile 12-Ikorodu Road, China Civil
Engineering Construction Corporation, has
said the project, when completed, would
greatly reduce incidences of flooding in
communities along the area.
The company also added that work would
be completed within two years.

Our correspondent, who visited the
construction site at Majidun, observed that
drainage channels were being constructed
at either sides of the road.
Head, Agric Station, Mr. Master Paye, said
the expansion would reduce flooding in
Ajegule, Majidun and Itawolo, which were
prone to flooding.

He added that through the clearing of
blocked drainages and construction of new
ones
in areas where there were none, life
would be easier for the people.

Paye said, "The constructions are
orchestrated to ease flooding in flood
prone areas like Ajegunle, Itawolo and
Majidun.
"We will expand the culverts in most areas
and totally reconstruct some channels.
"This would definitely make life worth
living for the people, as they will soon start
experiencing a traffic-free road without
flood and potholes."

He added that the project would take two
years in order for the company to use the
best materials available and get the best
result.
Personnel Manager, Agric Station, Olusegun
Adegboyega, however, said rains were
slowing down their work.

He said, "The project is supposed to be
moving faster than it is now, but the rains
are making it difficult. Sometimes, we
spend extra time in places where we had
already worked earlier because of the
rains.

"Some residents, who have not evacuated
their property from houses marked for
demolition, have also made it difficult for
work to begin in those areas."
