Vandalism -Delta orders the arrest of Broadcasting service workers

Delta State Commissioner for Information,
Mr. Chike Ogeah, has ordered the arrest of
all staff of the Department of Engineering
of Delta Broadcasting Service in connection
with the vandalism of three thunder
arrestors of the radio station.
Ogeah gave the order on Monday while the
General
Manager of DBS, Albert Oshogbo,
was conducting him round the scene of
the vandalised equipment.

The GM said the three arrestors and a pole
connected to a copper wire were bent
down and removed on Friday night.
He explained that the thunder arrestors
were about 450 metres long and valued at
N1.5m each.

He noted that security arrangement at the
radio station had been weak since the
police that were asked to provide 24 hours
surveillance recently stopped patrolling the
DBS premises for reasons best known to
them.

While wondering how somebody could
climb an installation ofabout 450 metres
high, the commissioner lamented the
culture of nonchalant attitude of civil
servants to government infrastructure.

He said, "Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan is
very sad about the incident. Government
will look inwards to fish out the culprits.

"From the look of things, the vandals might
either be the contract engineer or staff
from engineering department of the radio
station."

The GM said a suspected male worker in
the engineering department had already
been arrested.
